Sailed in all shipboard capacities from Third Officer up to and including Master primarily on product, parcel, and crude carriers. Seagoing career followed by broad-based shoreside experience in operations, management, chartering, new vessel construction, labor contracts, and risk and safety management in the ocean going, tug and barge and ferry sectors.
Served as a maritime expert in matters relating to tanker, tug/barge and ferry operations, safety management and navigational issues and have performed yacht surveys.
Membership: National Academy of Sciences Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Ferries, American Bureau of Shipping, National Cargo Bureau, Worldwide Ferry Safety Association, and Passenger Vessel Association. Also served on the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Council, Area Maritime Security Committee Executive Board NY Harbor, USCG Towing Safety Advisory Committee, and the Connecticut State Board of Pilot Commissioners.
